Billy.

We have a weasel now.

I say 'we' because it's yours, too. I will not raise this vermin on my own.

[OOC: LOL SURROGATE BABBY

I just realized that West already hit 100 posts if you count his action spams/logs in this journal as entries. And... I counted some of them, so he's only made like... 96? written entries? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO FOR THE 100th POST EXTRAVAGANZA NOW BAWWW]

We have a weasel? Why do we have a weasel?

From: [identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com
Because Morgan left it in my room.

It has a litter box, Billy.

This is specifically why I never wanted a cat.

Is it... at least using it's litter box? Is it a big litter box? Can we make Morgan change it since this is technically her fault?

It had better use it. I won't tolerate a creature spreading filth in our room.

If only. She thinks I'll learn something from it.

Something like what? How long it takes for a weasel to chew through my wiring?

Hang on, I'm just in the kitchen, we can discuss this in person in a minute.

Hurry. It ran under the bed.

Annnnd Action!

[A few minutes later the door opens and Billy comes in, tossing his journal onto the bed.]

Hi Henry! Is it still under there?

[He moves over to give West a peck on the cheek, before crouching down to peer under their bed. One part of him is just irritated, while another part is curious about the little creature which has apparently been thrust on them.]

Action!

[Once Billy arrives, West sits up and smiles at him, then resumes his peeking under the bed.]

It is. Here--

[He sticks his arm under the bed and holds his hand out to the weasel, trying to coax it over. He feels whiskers brush against his palm as the animal sniffs it, then a set of tiny teeth clamp on his wrist]

Ow!

[He pulls his arm back and glares at the animal]

Action!

[Billy... is probably sort of having the wrong reaction to the little creature that just bit his boyfriend.]

Heyyyy, hey little guy! Don't be scared!

[Now it's his turn to reach under the bed, as though all of a sudden he's been reminded that it's fluffy and smaller than him and don't all evil genius's have small fluffy things to look sophisticated with?]

Come on little guy, come on out, you don't have to bite us anymore...

Action!

It's a girl.

[West has no idea why that matters, but it does. He watches the creature slowly approach Billy]

I hope Morgan's had it spayed.

Action!

Huh. What should we call her?

[And Magically? "It" became "her". Billy waited, his hand still outstretched as the ferret sniffed curiously at his gloved fingers. Somewhat predictably? It tried a repeat performance of it's first encounter with West, and sank its little ferret teeth into his glove, giving Billy the chance to grab hold of the wicked creature and pull it out from under the bed!]

Hey! No! Bad! You don't bite people in our room, Missy!

[Pause]

Unless directed to do so by West or I.

Action!

[He smiles a little as Billy snatches the weasel, then pulls himself up to a sitting position, leaning his back against the bed and watching the animal squirm in Billy's hands]

Right. What should we call it? [He tentatively reaches a hand out for the critter] I don't know any proper weasel names.

Aww, you have a new pet too? Is it male or female? Does it have a name yet?

We should have a play date at some point! You can bring your, er...weasel, and I'll bring my puppy!

Female, and... no. Billy and I haven't decided on a name yet.

A... play date. I'll have to think about it.

You know, so our pets can socialize? If we wait until they're fully grown, they might display hostility towards each other.

Let me know when you've decided.

It's a weasel. Why would it wish to socialise with a dog? That makes no sense.

Pets can get along with animals not of their own species, you know. The more people and species a pet is comfortable around, the more relaxed they'll be on average when around people and things they don't know. That's why I'm trying to set up play dates for my dog.

Weasels--I'm going to assume she's a ferret, specifically, as I don't imagine Morgan would get you a feral weasel--tend to be bitey little things. She needs to get used to frequent handling, and a variety of people and creatures, if you want her to get better about that.

It's going to break if anybody-- or anything-- is too rough with it. I don't foresee myself letting it loose around other animals or strangers.

It's really sweet, how protective you're being over it. My dog, however, is just a baby. The worst he could do is decide your ferret smells wonderful and sniff and lick at her for the entirety of the visit.

You can walk ferrets like dogs. They have little harnesses and leashes made for them. We could walk them together...?

Ferrets need exercise, just like any other pet. When she gets bigger, you'll need to start taking her for walks.

It's nothing to be embarrassed about. It just makes you a responsible pet owner.

My cabin's rather large. It can exercise just fine in there.

If you can promise me that you won't cause any trouble, then yes, you can bring your cat.

Marvelous! And trust me, I won't cause any trouble this time.

'surrogate babby'? :P

A weasel? Why would you have a weasel, of all things?
From: [identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com
Because Morgan seems to think it's a good idea. I don't see the purpose in it. Maybe if I had a rabbit infestation... but as it is? There's no point in a weasel on the Barge.

Awesomes.

When you express sentiments to use them for mischief, you really aren't helping your case. Practice a bit of discretion, will you?

Discretion? Really? I am not a creature of subtlies. When I do something, I do it big!

And you won't get to do it at all if everybody knows what you are planning.

A valid point. Oh well! Too late to go back now.
