I really, truly do not care if this jinxes the entire boat: if we don't land at a port soon, I am going to throw somebody overboard to make this Barge land.
major_west: (right?)
I was given this journal at the time of my death-- or shortly after, anyway. It's odd, looking back at things I'd written when I wasn't really myself. I made a rubbish woman, an imbecilic teenager, and--

Hann--

Anyway. Despite everything here, the loss of identity through floodwater, the ports, all of the arrivals and sudden departures, the death and absolute... pointlessness of many of our struggles, this journal was the only thing that remained constant. I had never wanted to keep one before, but here I am, over a year past my death, and I'm still writing in it and speaking to it.

I wonder if it will remain after I've gone away from here.

P.S. The weasel has a name now. Billy and I have decided to call it Ripley, and we hope that it will grow into its name. And no, Libby, I will not walk it on a leash like a ridiculous mincing queen.

One of the newer Inmates came to me asking about weapons-- specifically, where he could obtain them. I didn't tell him anything, but I thought you should know, in case he came looking for a shag.

[OOC: AFTER DOING A COUNT AND REMOVING THE ACTION POSTS FROM THE TOTAL, this is ACTUALLY #98. Unless I missed some other action post. So there. I get to stall.]

So, I'm leaving the kitchen. It'll be a delight to finally get the smell of garlic out of my clothing...

Honestly, you'd think that a people known for culinary prowess would learn to diversify their ingredients a bit more. To the remaining kitchen staff: garlic is not a substitute for flavour, you know. Sometimes, a bit of subtlety really makes a dish explode.

...er.

Anyway, I realise that kitchen exploits hardly make for the best reading. I have a question to pose to the rest of you. As far as Barge duties go, where is there a need for an extra hand? I was considering the Infirmary, but given that most people here bleed out before they make it in the first place, it seems that would be a waste of manpower.

Ah. Also, with that port out of the way-- and barring any floods-- I believe it's time to talk about that basketball game again. Wardens versus Inmates. And before you answer, Billy: yes, you have to play. For killing my character with that gnome--

This is boring, really. There isn't anything for a girl child to do here on the Barge, is there?

I suppose that makes sense. I mean, it's a place for dead people, crooks and criminals, so yeah, I understand why the options for entertainment are limited. We're to be punished and all until we repent. But you'd think I could at least get a show on the telly, instead of static. I don't even know why I have this if I can't get any of the channels working. I can't even do much of anything at the gym right now, and I'm not allowed in the pool area, or the pub, don't feel like reading, so what am I supposed to do?

Oh!

That's right! I've got my neph-- that Playstation!

...I've never used one of these before. How do I get it hooked up?

I believe a very thorough thinning of the herd is called for.

To answer your question: yes.

This idleness is no good for me, and many of the things I enjoyed doing aren't exactly accessible here.

I need a... hobby. What does everybody else do to pass the time? Aside from writing in journals.
