117 - YES West likes art. STFU he's still manly

I'm really looking forward to this port. Earth, normal Earth, and nearly a decade into the future, at that. I'd been on holiday to New York once before, but it'll be nice to see it again, on an Earth that presumably didn't end in 2001. Of course, I'm still holding out hope that one day, perhaps, we'll be able to stop in England.

Would anybody be up for visiting the Guggenheim while we're there? I'm looking at you right now, Billy. Do me this favour, and I'll visit that absurdly large comic book shop with you.

[Filtered AWAY from Billy]
I could do with some restaurant recommendations, should anybody have them.

[OOC: Fun fact: West is pre-9/11 (going by some trivia about the shooting dates of the movie blahblah), so... somebody should tell him about it before he goes up to some New Yorker all "Hello, where are those infamously large towers? c:" SOMEBODY NAMED BILLY]

have Adam tell you.

Ah, West...out of curiosity, when in 2001 did your zombie apocalypse happen?

THANK YOU, ADAM

March. Why do you wish to know?

YOU'RE WELCOME.

Oh.

You might want to find a history book. Look up September 11, 2001.

Er... alright. Does this have something to do with the port?

and after locating a book

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
...ah. Well, that was unexpected.

[identity profile] lazarusrisen.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
It was unexpected for everyone.

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, thank you for informing me. It all sounds a bit mad.

[identity profile] lazarusrisen.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Hell, it was. I was...indisposed for most of 2001 but all the people that I saw were shocked and pretty freaked out. It took everyone by storm.

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
I can imagine.

Per Se has impossibly good food and great service. Just dress nicely and prepare to pay upwards of $125 per person. I assume that won't be a problem with the credit cards, so why not go all-out?

The Guggenheim sounds lovely. Is it part of the date, or a group thing?

Yes, the price isn't any issue at all.

A group thing. I find museums are best enjoyed in groups.

Don't ask me how I know this, but look for the London when you get into town. I never been myself -- visited New York once after the towers went down. But it's run by that one English guy that's always on TV yelling at people in the kitchen.

I dunno if he was before or after your time.

That English guy who yells? I don't know who that is. But I'll keep a lookout for it, thank you.

If you like steak, I know of one place I went to on a high school trip. It kind of seems like the level of classy that you'd appreciate. I don't know.

It's called Frankie and Johnnie's (http://www.frankieandjohnnies.com/steakhouses/frankieandjohnnies.html). They have a bunch of experienced, elderly men in suits serving amazing food. It's pretty cool. Sometimes they have a soft, live musician play jazz tunes, or the blues.

That sounds excellent. I'll have to keep that in mind.

I'm sure it'll be quite packed because of the holiday, but you might want to take him to the Jekyll and Hyde Club. It's a fun place, with actors and they have a laboratory room as well. I went with some mates from work, and everyone there had a good time.

Watch out for horrible accents, though. Tend to grate a bit on actual and proper British ears. For some reason, everyone in a horror movie's always British.

And enjoy the Guggenheim. I rather liked the MoMA as well.

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-12-21 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That sounds like the perfect place for him. Much as I'd like a more proper restaurant... I think I'll do that one.

And aren't we always in outer space, as well?

Thank you. I'd like to see the MoMA-- it was closed the day I went by it on my holiday. I wish we were staying here long enough to see everything.

Filtered away from Billy. Aw. That sucks. J&H is like one of my favorite places in the city.

[personal profile] toldastory 2009-12-21 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
They do have proper food; it's a bit overpriced for what they offer, but it's good. And they have a wine list and a bar. Maybe you can make a compromise and do one meal there and another somewhere else?

And don't forget how we're often French as well!

The wonderful about the MoMa is the roaming exhibits. I don't know what's there at the moment, though.

Filtered away from Billy. I saw it and was like "WE HAVE TO GO THERE!" and we never did :c

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
I think the atmosphere will make the price worth it. I'm not too worried, unless the Admiral expects us to pay our credit card bills afterwards.

And the backbone of the ancient world, as well as every fantasy world.

I hope I'll be able to pencil that in with everything else. What are your plans for the port?

Adam is faster than your boyfriend :c Billy would have forgotten to mention it anyway.

[identity profile] my-freeze-ray.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Can we go to the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art, as well?

That's okay, Billy. Your failure will remain a secret :c

[identity profile] major-west.livejournal.com 2009-12-22 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Absolutely. I didn't even know that existed.
