079 - LOOKING FOR WORK

So, I'm leaving the kitchen. It'll be a delight to finally get the smell of garlic out of my clothing...

Honestly, you'd think that a people known for culinary prowess would learn to diversify their ingredients a bit more. To the remaining kitchen staff: garlic is not a substitute for flavour, you know. Sometimes, a bit of subtlety really makes a dish explode.

...er.

Anyway, I realise that kitchen exploits hardly make for the best reading. I have a question to pose to the rest of you. As far as Barge duties go, where is there a need for an extra hand? I was considering the Infirmary, but given that most people here bleed out before they make it in the first place, it seems that would be a waste of manpower.

Ah. Also, with that port out of the way-- and barring any floods-- I believe it's time to talk about that basketball game again. Wardens versus Inmates. And before you answer, Billy: yes, you have to play. For killing my character with that gnome--

You patrol the ship for a few hours a day and try to prevent trouble. And you'd be on call in case anything major happens.

Do you have a weapon?

Of course I don't. But, for the purposes of my job, I suppose I'm to have one, aren't I?

What kind of weaponry are you proficient with? I'm afraid I don't have any guns to hand out, but I can loan you sword, battle axe, crossbow, something along those lines for the hours you're on duty.

And I'll have to run this by your warden, just so she knows.

Er... I'm afraid I haven't been trained in medieval weaponry. I only know firearms, basic hand-to-hand, and... I suppose knives.

Right, of course.

Sure, I can loan you a knife.

Why don't you take the 1pm-5pm shift Monday through Friday? Swing by my room first to pick up the knife and then drop it off after.

I can certainly do that. Thank you. This will be a great improvement over Ralph the kitchen.
